: : Soldering
To solder pieces of glass together you first need to foil them. Solder only sticks to foil
with liquid flux. Be extremely careful the iron is hot, never leave it unattended and make sure that when you always solder in a ventilated area, or at the very least use a small fan to blow the fumes away from your face. When I solder stained glass I like to pin my glass pieces down with thumb tacks so the pieces so they wont move before tacking with a dab of solder where the corners meet to solidify the whole project. After what you do is finish in one stroke lines from one tack point to the other. If you find you get peaks that mean you don’t have enough flux. To hot an iron will make bubbles when you have bubbles wet your iron on your sponge which should be wet with water to cool the iron a bit for better results. |
